The camping at Cape Melville is excellent. From beachside camping to campsite that are more sheltered, your spoiled for choice. This is definitely 4WD country and you won't get here without one. The trip in is well worth while as Cape Melville is renowned for its fishing and some people even go to the trouble of bringing tinnies up here. You will need to be self sufficient although there is a spring where you can collect fresh water but I wouldn't rely on it. This is one place on the east coast where you can watch the sun set in the west over the water with great views out over to the islands.
